This intermediate level hand building class builds on the fundamentals covered in Hand Building 101 and is ideal for students with some prior clay experience either at Forma or elsewhere. We’ll briefly review essential techniques before introducing more complex projects and refined surface approaches.

Students will create functional and decorative pieces like mugs, sculptural vessels, lidded forms, and more while exploring texture, form, and surface design techniques that elevate their work. Emphasis will be placed on thoughtful design, clean construction, and expressive surface decoration.

• 16 hours of outside studio time called Potters Hours. These hours can be used for missed sessions (travel, work, illness) or to get some extra studio time.
