In this Immersive full clay exploration we get to start week one by learning slab, coil and pinch hand building techniques as well as more advanced sculptural elements. We will get to experience the feel of a professional ceramic studio atmosphere while learning the how’s and why’s of pottery by creating several hand built works of art, then further exploring clay through the potter’s wheel! Using the skills learned in week one, students will advance to the potter’s wheel and in the second week will learn basic wheel throwing skills like centering, pulling and opening the form! Everyone will be successful, no matter your skill level or experience. We are encouraged to experiment and most of all have fun! Finally, students will learn creative surface design and glazing techniques using bright underglazes, colorful slips and beautifully shiny glazes for that unique and vibrant finishing touch.

$395 Camp includes clay, tools, glaze, firing fees and a short break to eat a snack brought from home.

Finished Work

Each of the students’ pieces will be decorated and finished-by the student, using options like bright underglazes and earthy colored slips, then finally glaze fired. Some projects will be fired and ready during camp, but most work will be available for pickup 2 weeks after camp ends.
